Kidderminster sign Sean Clancy following his release by Chester

Kidderminster Harriers have signed winger Sean Clancy on a non-contract deal following his exit from Blue Square Bet North leaders Chester.

The 25-year-old Liverpudlian moved to the Deva Stadium this summer after being released by Fleetwood Town.

"With our injuries to Marvin Johnson and Danny Pilkington, it's great to have someone to fill in that position," said assistant manager Gary Whild.

"He's still young, he's talented and he's got a nice left foot."

Clancy netted four times in 12 appearances for Fleetwood in the first half of their title-winning Blue Square Bet Premier promotion-winning campaign last season before being loaned out to another Blue Square Bet North side, FC Halifax.

But he scored just once in his 11 games for Chester and, having not been guaranteed a starting place, he was released, allowing him to move to Aggborough as a free agent to link up with former Fleetwood team-mate Keith Briggs.

"He's had his contract cancelled at Chester," added Whild. "And, with them being lower down, that enabled us to bring him in.

"He's experienced, he's good on the ball and he's got a bit of quality."

Chester manager Neil Young told the Chester Chronicle: "The lad just wants to play football and that's not something I can guarantee him at the moment."

He will be in manager Steve Burr's squad for this Saturday's home league game against Dartford (22 December, 15:00 GMT) as the Harriers bid to bounce back from the frustration of last weekend's FA Trophy exit at Bromley.
