Josef Varga: Middlesbrough agree loan deal for Debrecen midfielder

Middlesbrough have signed Debrecen midfielder Josef Varga on a season-long loan deal, which begins on 1 July.

The 25-year-old, who is Boro boss Tony Mowbray's first summer signing, has won 21 international caps as a right-back for Hungary.

Varga has also played in the Champions League with his parent club.

Middlesbrough require strengthening in midfield, after releasing Julio Arca, Nicky Bailey and Kieron Dyer at the end of last season.

Mowbray has also expressed an interest in signing former Sunderland and Stoke midfielder Dean Whitehead.
