Ruben Rochina: Blackburn Rovers forward to have shoulder surgery

Blackburn Rovers forward Ruben Rochina will have an operation on Wednesday to repair his damaged shoulder, manager Gary Bowyer has confirmed.

The 22-year-old Spaniard was taken off the field on a stretcher during the 1-1 draw at Derby County on Sunday.

Manager Gary Bowyer fears it could take as long as three months for Rochina to recover fully from the injury.

"I think we're talking months rather than weeks, but we have a top-class medical team so we'll see," he said.

Leon Best is expected to replace Rochina for the League Cup tie at Carlisle on Wednesday, after the striker rescued a point for Blackburn in their opening Championship fixture with a late goal at Pride Park.
