Two goals from teenager Ryan Colclough earned Crewe their first victory of the campaign with a win over Tranmere.

The 18-year-old smashed the ball into the top corner to put his side in front after the visitors' Danny Holmes had been sent off for a second booking.

Colclough doubled his tally with five minutes to go when he converted Byron Moore's cross on the six-yard line.

Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro tapped in a late consolation for Tranmere but they remain without a win this season.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis told BBC Radio Stoke:

Crewe should have won easier - Davis

"We've got to be strong and close games out better. It's a learning thing - over time it's experience you have to have.

"We didn't put the game to bed until very late in the game. We should have won the game by three or four comfortably. We stopped our forward impetus, we stopped getting players forward and gambling.

"It's going to take time, that partnership [between Anthony Grant and Abdul Osman]isn't just going to switch on and happen - they've got to hold the team together and I think that today they lost their shape a little towards the end of the game."
