Irish Premiership: Ards 2-1 Glentoran
- Published
Bottom club Ards recorded only their fifth win of the Irish Premiership campaign by beating Glentoran at Clandeboye Road.
David Armstrong headed Niall Currie's side into the lead in the 25th minute from Craig McMillen's corner.
Glentoran had Willie Garrett sent-off for picking up two yellow cards.
Andy Mitchell got the second goal on 61 minutes for Ards who then had McMillen sent-off while Curtis Allen scored for the Glens two minutes from the end.
Glentoran's Marcus Kane was sent-off in stoppage-time when a foul on Armstrong brought him a second booking.
Referee Stephen Wallace initially showed Kane only a yellow card, but he finally produced the red after an assistant reminded him the Glens man had been booked earlier in the game.
It means Glentoran have lost to two of the bottom three in back-to-back Premiership games, as they recently lost 2-1 at home to Warrenpoint Town.
They went behind to Ards when former Linfield defender Armstrong powerfully headed in at the far post.
Mitchell headed in the second from six yards after McMillen had nodded David Gibson's ball across the six-yard line.
By that stage the Glens had been reduced to 10 men, but Ards lost their numerical advantage when McMillen was dismissed for kicking out in retaliation.
Allen was left unmarked to head in from a Stephen McAlorum free-kick in the 88th minute but Eddie Patterson's men were unable to find an equaliser.
