Manuel Pellegrini: Man City have not won title despite 'huge' win

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini warned his players the Premier League title race is not over after their vital 3-2 win at Everton.

City top the table on goal difference and should reclaim the title if they win their remaining two games.

Aston Villa and West Ham visit Etihad Stadium in the season's final week.

"It is a huge step towards winning the title but my message was the same as it was after we lost at Liverpool - the title is not over," Pellegrini said.

Bosnia striker Edin Dzeko struck either side of half-time to secure the points for City after Argentina forward Sergio Aguero had equalised Everton midfielder Ross Barkley's spectacular opener.

Romelu Lukaku pulled a goal back for fifth-placed Everton, but City held on to win at Goodison Park for only the second time in their past 16 visits.

Pellegrini said: "It was a very big test. We were sure we would have to play a very good game against a very good team."

Chelsea will move back to the top of the table with victory over Norwich on Sunday, but Liverpool would only be a point adrift of them in third ahead of their trip to Crystal Palace on Monday.

City's goal difference is nine better than Liverpool's and, with their game in hand against Aston Villa on Wednesday, they remain in pole position to win their second Premier League title.

Pellegrini said: "We have to win our games and we will start preparing for the game against Aston Villa on Sunday.

"Everton have been in a very good moment and it was a very important victory."

Aguero limped off with a groin injury, but later played down the injury, writing on Twitter: "Thank you for your concern. I left just as a precaution. Fortunately I'm fine, happy for the goal, the win and keeping our dream alive."
