Germany captain Philipp Lahm and midfielder Thomas Muller have signed new contracts with Bayern Munich.

Defender Lahm, 30, has extended his deal with the German champions until 2018, while 24-year-old Muller's contract will run until 2019.

Lahm, who joined Bayern aged 11 and has been captain since 2011, says he plans to stay for the rest of his career.

"This is definitely my last contract and I will end my career at Bayern Munich," Lahm said.

"That was always my wish and I'm delighted it has happened."

Muller had been linked with a move away from Bayern, and there was speculation he would join Manchester United., external

But he said: "The club convinced me that I'm in the right place and I have the feeling that I'm an important component in the club's plans."

Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says the duo remain key players for boss Pep Guardiola.

"Both have remained faithful right from the very start and are going to play an important role in the future," he said.
