Liverpool-born Hunt came through the Wrexham academy
League Two-bound Cambridge United have signed midfielder Johnny Hunt from Wrexham after the clubs agreed a compensation fee.
The 23-year-old has signed a two-year deal with last season's Conference Premier play-off winners.
He can play across the midfield or at left-back and scored 11 goals in 42 Conference Premier games last season.
"Johnny is a very good footballer. He's a versatile, left-footed player," said U's director of football Jez George.
"Johnny's goalscoring record last season was outstanding and he will add real quality to our squad."
Liverpool-born Hunt, who came through the Wrexham academy but turned down a new deal this summer, added: "I'm delighted to have joined Cambridge United. I'm really excited about the new season and can't wait to play in League Two."
