Two late goals helped St Paul's to the Charity Cup victory at Springfield

Second-half goals from Jack Griffin and Bradley Gollop helped St Paul's to a 2-0 win over Jersey Scottish in the Charity Cup final.

It was the last match to be played on grass at Springfield Stadium before an artificial 3G surface is laid ahead of the 2015 Island Games.

Jack Cannon and Craig Russell had earlier missed good chances for Saints.

"I'm really happy for the boys tonight, they've worked so hard in pre-season," said St Paul's boss Paul Brannan.

"We showed that we possibly deserved to win the game, although there was only two goals in it we created a huge amount of chances for ourselves.

"It was a special night and it's nice to know for the history books that we're the last team to take silverware on the grass."

Griffin's opener came 17 minutes from time when confusion in the Scottish defence saw them fail to clear their lines.

Substitute Gollop wrapped up the win from close range with five minutes remaining, firing home at the far post to steal the honour of scoring the last goal on the Springfield turf.
