Ross County: Lewis Toshney impact hailed after first league win
- Published
Manager Jim McIntyre praised new signing Lewis Toshney as the defender helped Ross County to their first league win of the season.
The 22-year-old was off the park when Darren Maatsen knocked in the stoppage-time winner against Dundee, having played for 84 minutes on his debut.
But he helped shore up the home defence for a 2-1 victory at Victoria Park.
"Lewis Toshney will be a good addition," enthused McIntyre. "We know he's a good player."
The former Celtic defender had loan spells at Kilmarnock and Dundee and was recruited on a short-term contract as a free agent.

"We like to get the ball forward quickly and isolate defenders in the wide areas to make things happen. I thought, to a man, everyone gave their absolute all" |
"Lewis has signed until the end of January," explained McIntyre. "The only reason for the length of deal is to prove his fitness."
County created several good chances before Michael Gardyne tucked away a Filip Kiss pass from close range.
Dundee levelled midway through the second half when substitute David Clarkson scooped a Martin Boyle cross in at the near post but Maatsen hammered home the last-gasp winner.
"It's the least we deserved," McIntyre told BBC Scotland. "I thought some of our first-half play was exceptional. We just couldn't get the ball in the net.
"We should have been further ahead but the team kept going after Dundee equalised and kept doing the right things."
Yoann Arquin was guilty of profligacy in front of goal but McIntyre was full of praise for the striker's work-rate.
"The big fella put in a great shift for us and upset their back two," he added. "As long as he keeps getting into the right areas, I'm sure he'll start finding the net.

"I thought, to a man, everyone gave their absolute all.
"With two tough games against Inverness and Celtic coming up, the result came at the right time and it stops people asking that question about 'when will you get that first win?'.
"Now it's up to us to build on it."
