Oxford United have signed left-back Tareiq Holmes-Dennis from Charlton on a one-month youth loan.

The 18-year-old is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Addicks and goes straight into the Oxford squad for Saturday's game against Tranmere.

"This is my first loan move so it's exciting. I'm looking forward to getting a different experience," Holmes-Dennis told BBC Radio Oxford.

"To be playing in front of fans for real points is exciting."

Holmes-Dennis captained Charlton's Under-18 side during his final year as a scholar and has featured regularly for Charlton's Under-21 team.

"Tareiq is highly rated by a lot of people in the game and has been involved in the England set-up," U's boss Michael Appleton told BBC Radio Oxford.

"He can play left-back and higher up. He is a player who will bring a real energy into the squad and a boost."
