Roma missed the chance to move to the top of Serie A as they were held to a goalless draw by Sampdoria.

The visitors, who lost 7-1 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek, had the better of the chances.

Roma striker Gervinho hit the post, while Alessandro Florenzi forced a remarkable save from Sampdoria keeper Sergio Romero late on.

Sampdoria remain unbeaten in the league this season, with Roma moving level with leaders Juventus, who host Palermo on Sunday.
