Championship strugglers Blackpool have signed defender Darren O'Dea on a deal until 4 January.

The 27-year-old was a free agent after being released by Ukrainian side Metalurh Donetsk in August.

O'Dea, a Republic of Ireland international, started his career at Celtic and has also played for Reading, Ipswich, Leeds and Toronto.

"I had a tough year in Ukraine, so I'm delighted to be at a good football club with good people," said O'Dea.

"I was desperate to play football again and I'm looking to now help the team."

He becomes the 10th new player to arrive at Blackpool since Lee Clark became manager at the end of October.
