Emile Sinclair: Northampton Town terminate striker's contact

Sinclair joined Crawley from Peterborough for £100,000 and also commanded a fee to join Northampton

Northampton Town have terminated the contract of striker Emile Sinclair, just six months after he signed a two-year deal with the club.

The 27-year-old, who initially joined the League Two side on loan from Crawley last season, scored three goals in 34 appearances for the Cobblers.

"Emile departs with our best wishes," Cobblers manager Chris Wilder said.

"He needs to be playing regular football, which he would struggle to do here."

Sinclair, a former Nottingham Forest trainee, scored one goal in 14 appearances after making his deal permanent in the summer.

"Emile came in at an important time and helped us pick up some much needed results," said Wilder.

"He has fallen down the pecking order this season and that is a sign of the progress we have made."

Sinclair is the latest player to leave Sixfields, with Kelvin Langmead, Ricky Ravenhill, David Moyo and Connor Roberts all departing earlier this month as Wilder looks to rebuild his side.

"We are looking to add to the squad before the transfer window closes," Wilder added.
