Not much of a surprise this but Roger Federer has just completed a routine first round victory at the Australian Open.

Rodgers on the quality of Chelsea:
"I was at Chelsea when Nemanja Matic came in and he certainly wasn't the player then that he is now. He showed his quality at Benfica and has come back stronger. He is very good. At the top end of the field they have real talent. I love Diego Costa's game. He presses and works and has better feet than people think. Then you've got Hazard and Oscar. So it is a threat. But for us it is about nullifying that threat and bring the qualities of our players into the game.

Aussie David Warner has had an on-field row with India's Rohit Sharma - Warner confronting the batsman after he took a single to an overthrow.
"When I went over to say something to him, he sort of said something in their language," said Warner. "I said 'speak English' because, if you're going to say something for me to understand, theoretically I cannot speak Hindi.
"So I did the polite thing and asked him to speak English. Therefore he did and I can't repeat what he said."

Swans' defender bid

'No tippy-tappy stuff' - Allardyce
Football
It worked fairly well for Spain over a couple of European Championships and a World Cup, but Sam Allardyce has had a pop at tippy-tappy football.
Revealing he'd ordered his Hammers side to be more direct during their 3-0 win over Hull yesterday, Allardyce said: "Getting the ball into the box quickly with quality is definitely sometimes the best way forward.
"All this tippy-tappy stuff - everybody keeps on going about the right way to play football."
Given West Ham are only four points of the Champions League places, who are we to argue?
Monday's back pages
Time to begin a round-up of what has made this morning's back pages and there's plenty on Arsenal's win at Manchester City, as you can imagine. Santa Carzola gets the lion's share of the praise in The Independent after his breathless performance.
My Gerrard regret - Mourinho
Football
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has given an intriguing interview, during which he confesses that failing to sign Liverpool's Steven Gerrard remains one of his greatest transfer disappointments.
Mourinho was close to signing the midfielder in his first spell as Chelsea manager in 2005 before Gerrard chose to stay at Anfield.
"We did everything to try [to sign him] and it was almost there," said Mourinho. "I was dreaming of Claude Makelele, Gerrard and Frank Lampard in midfield."
Maybe that is why Jose refused to give Stevie G the ball back here...

'All about Chelsea' - Pelegrini
Football
For beaten Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini, meanwhile, it's now all about the trip to Chelsea in a fortnight.
After defeat to Arsenal left his team five points behind the leaders, Pellegrini said: "The game we play at Stamford Bridge is a very important game. We must close the gap to two points.
"It's very important to win the next game against Chelsea. I hope we are going to recover and play the way we have been playing so far."
Wenger all smiles
Football
It may not surprise you to learn that Arsene Wenger was in a good mood this weekend.
After watching his Arsenal team win 2-0 at Manchester City - a result which silences many of his critics and also gives a massive shot in the arm to Chelsea's title hopes - Wenger says the win answered a lot of doubts.
"I am very pleased because our defence have been questioned a lot," said the Frenchman.
"The target was to put it right, and to win a big game away in the league which we've not done this season."
The win lifted Arsenal to fifth in the table, a point off the Champions League places.

Australia's Marinko Matosevic awaits Andy Murray in the second round, a game that will take place on Wednesday and which you can follow live on the BBC Sport website.
Matosevic is unlikely to be a pushover - he was ranked a career-high 39 last year and is sure to have plenty of support from a partisan home crowd.
Murray off to a flier
Tennis
Andy Murray, wearing a very natty lime green top, has made a solid start Down Under at the first tennis Grand Slam of the year.
The Scot was on court at 02:00 GMT in Melbourne to take on India's Yuki Bhambri and took two hours 12 minutes to win in straight sets 6-3 6-4 7-6 (7-3).
Murray, 27, had a spot of bother in the third set - when he had to recover from 4-1 down - but was otherwise untroubled.
"I thought it was a good start," said the man in green. "I served very well the whole match and hopefully I'll get a little bit better."
