Wigan Athletic have confirmed forward Shaun Maloney is set to leave the club.

The Latics have agreed a fee with Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire for Scotland star Maloney, 31, who saw a move to Leicester collapse.

Midfielder Ben Watson, 29, left the DW Stadium on Friday for fellow Championship side Watford for an undisclosed fee.

Wigan boss Malky Mackay also confirmed there are four clubs interested in 23-year-old winger Callum McManaman.

"We've agreed terms with Chicago Fire for Shaun to leave imminently, so that is something that is going to be happening in the next day or so," Mackay told BBC Radio Manchester.

"There's a financial situation and I'm respectful of the club's position - I've got to be prudent in terms of the saving that we will make on Shaun's wages and the transfer fee that can then be put to other things."

Former Watford and Cardiff manager Mackay also confirmed there was still interest in winger McManaman after they rejected two bids from West Bromwich Albion for the player.

When asked if there had been a bid from Hull City, Mackay replied: "There's been no formal bid, but there's been an enquiry.

"There's been an enquiry from a few clubs to be honest with you, but I've great respect for Steve Bruce so I don't want to say too much more."

Mackay also said that he had "two or three" possible signings lined up.
