Paddy McCarthy scored once in 11 appearances on loan at Sheffield United this season

Bolton Wanderers have signed Crystal Palace defender Paddy McCarthy on loan until the end of the season.

McCarthy started at Manchester City but moved to Leicester in 2005 after failing to play a first-team game.

The 31-year-old joined Charlton two years later before a move to Palace, external in 2008, where he was club captain before a season-ending injury in 2012.

He played in two League Cup games at the start of this season and then spent two months on loan at Sheffield United.

In February, West Brom manager Tony Pulis fell for a prank call where Limavady United midfielder Blain Morrison pretended to be Wanderers boss Neil Lennon, and Pulis recommended McCarthy to him.
