Kenny Jackett: Wolves have to take promotion chance
- Published
Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett has urged his players to keep their heads in their local derby at Birmingham on Saturday, now that they have given themselves a real chance of promotion.
Monday's 4-3 win against Leeds put Wolves back into the Championship's top six for the first time since November.
"We're pleased to still have the opportunity," Jackett told BBC WM. "It's now up to us to take it.
"But, on the pitch, you need to be cool, calm and collected," he added.
"Yes, be enthusiastic to win, but you have to control your emotions. Decision making is a big thing, in derby games especially."
Last time Wolves met Blues on 1 November, Jackett's side earned a 0-0 draw against a Blues side galvanised by the appointment of Gary Rowett in the wake of their club-record 8-0 home defeat by Bournemouth just a week earlier.

Wolves' point was enough to take them top of the Championship for two hours, only to then suffer a run of five defeats in which they conceded 16 goals to drop to 13th in the table.
"We had a little spell around November conceding threes, fours and fives and it's very difficult to win games doing that," said Jackett. "But we've moved on. We realised that we needed to be better than that to win games. We've come through that.
"It seems to have been crunch time for about three months now, but I said with 15 games to go that I thought we needed to average two points a game. We're up with that and we need to continue that.
"We have two tough away games coming up - Birmingham, followed closely by Middlesbrough on Tuesday night - and we need to be ready."
Wolves have brought back winger Michael Jacobs from his loan at Blackpool following confirmation of the Tangerines' relegation from the Championship.
"We went to be strong as we can," added Jackett. "We're pleased with what he's done up there. He impressed and we can use that momentum."
