Barnsley ran riot in the second half as they ended their season with a comprehensive five-goal victory over 10-man Rochdale.

The visitors lost Joe Rafferty to a second yellow after the restart before Josh Scowen nodded the opener.

Scowen headed home his second before Mason Holgate added a third six minutes from time.

Conor Hourihane scored a close-range fourth in added time, whilst Sam Winnall headed Barnsley's fifth.

Rochdale assistant manager Chris Beech told BBC Radio Manchester:

Beech on Barnsley v Rochdale

"To finish eighth in League One is highest the club's ever finished.

"I think we scored more goals and had more wins at this level than we've ever done before, so that's something to hold onto going into the summer.

"To be honest with you, I thought we were better than Barnsley after the red card."
