Carlisle United have agreed to sign Bradford City midfielder Jason Kennedy when his current contract expires.

The 28-year-old made 37 appearances for League One side Bradford after signing from Rochdale in 2013.

He moved on loan to Carlisle in March and played in 11 games as the Cumbrians finished 20th in League Two.

"Jason came in at the end of last season and he did exactly what we expected him to do," manager Keith Curle told the club's website., external

"We're delighted that he's accepted the offer. He's the kind of player I know I can work with and you can see in his eyes that he wants to be here and he wants to help this club do well."

Kennedy will officially join Carlisle on 1 August, having agreed a two-year deal.

Meanwhile, midfielder Connor Hammell has signed his first professional contract with the League Two club.

The 18-year-old, who has made three appearances as a substitute for the Cumbrians, will now stay with them until at least the end of next season.
