Southampton's on-loan defender Toby Alderweireld wants to play in the Premier League again next season.

The 43-cap Belgian international joined the Saints on a season-long deal from Atletico Madrid in September and impressed in his 25 appearances.

Southampton have an option to buy Alderweireld for around £6.8m, but Manchester City and Tottenham have been linked with the 26-year-old.

"I really want to go to a club that really wants me," he said.

"There are three options - stay with Atletico, stay with Southampton or go to another club. So we will see what happens.

"Southampton gave me that opportunity and it paid off, I think. I've had a fantastic year, I can't lie about that, so, yes, I'd like to stay in the Premier League."

Ronald Koeman's team finished seventh in the Premier League and will qualify for next season's Europa League if Arsenal beat Aston Villa in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
