Rochdale have agreed to sign Plymouth striker Lewis Alessandra on a two-year contract from 1 July.

The 26-year-old former Oldham and Morecambe forward scored 13 goals during 2014-15 as the Pilgrims reached the League Two play-offs.

Heywood-born Alessandra was at Dale's school of excellence aged 11.

"Keith Hill contacted me and I was very pleased not only to be playing for him, but to move up a division and to come back home," he said.

"It's one of the closest clubs to where I was born and I came to Spotland as a kid on a few occasions."

He joins Donal McDermott and Jim McNulty as new arrivals at Rochdale since the end of the campaign.
