Dumbarton have completed the signing of defender Darren Barr after the 30-year-old, who has one Scotland cap, was released by Ross County.

He became the Sons' fourth signing in a week after the arrival of Stirling Albion striker Gordon Smith, winger Willie Gibson and keeper Mark Brown.

Barr made only six appearances for County last season and last played for the Premiership side in November.

He previously played for Falkirk, Forfar Athletic, Hearts and Kilmarnock.

He joins Brown in arriving from the Dingwall club, the goalkeeper having signed last week.

The 24-year-old Smith previously played for Livingston, Hearts, Hamilton Accies and Raith Rovers before dropping into League One last season.

But Sons manager Stevie Aitken told his club website: "Gordon is a good player and will be an excellent addition for us.

"He scored 10 goals in 42 appearances for the Binos last season and I'm confident he can step up for us."

Gibson's move from Stranraer was announced last week, with the winger's switch being completed on Sunday.
