Alfie Mawson: Barnsley sign former Brentford defender

Alfie Mawson helped Wycombe reach the League Two play-off final last season

Barnsley have signed defender Alfie Mawson on a three-year contract.

The 21-year-old was out of contract with Championship side Brentford, who will be entitled to compensation having offered him a new deal.

He spent the whole of last season on loan at League Two Wycombe, scoring seven goals in 51 games, including the League Two play-off final.

Mawson tweeted: "Delighted to have signed for Barnsley and looking forward to getting the season started!"
