Josh Simpson: Plymouth Argyle sign ex-Crawley Town midfielder
- Published
League Two side Plymouth Argyle have signed midfielder Josh Simpson on a one-year deal after he rejected a new contract at Crawley Town.
The 28-year-old made only nine appearances in League One last season because of injury.
In total he played 165 times for Crawley, having signed for them back in December 2010, and worked under Pilgrims assistant Craig Brewster.
He has also spent time at Cambridge United, Peterborough and Southend.
Simpson is Plymouth's fifth summer signing.
Meanwhile Plymouth boss Derek Adams has admitted that versatile midfielder Anthony O'Connor is unlikely to remain at Home Park next season.
The Irishman signed a six month deal with the Devon side in January and was offered an extension, but is currently training with another club.
Adams said it is doubtful that O'Connor will return even if a potential move elsewhere falls through.
"It's going to be very difficult because of the budget. We've had to move on because of that - you never say never but it'll be difficult.
"I've spoken to his agent and he's not here because he's with another club. I think he's training with them with a view to signing for them."
