Brian Rice has joined Inverness Caledonian Thistle as assistant manager ahead of the club's European debut.

The 51-year-old replaces Russell Latapy in the coaching set-up and will be in the dugout against Europa League qualifying opponents Astra on Thursday.

Rice, who arrives from Qatar club, Al Khor, has worked with Caley Thistle boss John Hughes at Falkirk and Hibs.

"He is a highly qualified coach and can be a big asset as we face the challenge of a new season," said Hughes.

"This is the third time Brian and I have linked up, so I have a full insight in to the quality of his coaching and I'm delighted he has agreed to join us."

Latapy left the Highland club last week to pursue his own managerial ambitions.
