Defender Rod McDonald has signed a one-year deal at Northampton Town, subject to completing a medical.

The 23-year-old centre-back spent last season at non-league AFC Telford after signing for them in June 2014.

He previously played for Hereford United until they were wound up in the high court and dissolved.

McDonald has spent most of July on trial with the Cobblers, and has played in a number of the League Two outfit's pre-season games.
