Preston North End have signed Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on a season-long loan.

Pickford has been with the Black Cats since he was eight, but spent much of last season on loan at Bradford City, the fifth loan spell of his career.

The 21-year-old made 34 appearances for the Bantams, and played for them in a 2-1 win at Preston last November.

Preston boss Simon Grayson said: "He's a good, young, up and coming goalkeeper who has some good experience."

Pickford is an England Under-20 international and recently made his first-team debut for Sunderland, playing a full 90 minutes against Mexican side Pachuca on their North American tour.

On the move to Deepdale, he said: "It's a great chance for me to play in the Championship. I've played in the Conference, League Two and League One and this is the next step up for me."
