Iain Vigurs signs for second spell at Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Vigurs scored two goals in 15 games for Motherwell last season

Iain Vigurs has returned to Inverness Caledonian Thistle on a one-year deal.

The 27-year-old midfielder goes straight into John Hughes' injury-depleted squad for Wednesday's Premiership visit by Partick Thistle.

Vigurs was released by Motherwell over the summer and had been playing for Highland League side Inverurie Locos as a trialist to stay fit.

He left Caley Thistle in 2009 and spent the next four years with local rivals Ross County.

"It's a bit strange how it came about as I was working out at the gym when one of the players suggested that John Hughes might let me train with the team to help me out a bit," Vigurs told the club website.

"Gym work is fine, but there's no substitute for spending time with professional coaches and I jumped at the chance.

"I was made very welcome and really like what the gaffer is doing here, so accepting the offer of a contract was an easy decision.

"Caley Thistle has had a couple of really good seasons and I'm keen to be part of another successful season this year."

Vigurs was used sparingly by Motherwell last term, scoring twice in 15 appearances.

Hughes added: "His fitness levels are surprisingly high and he fits right in with my style of play.

"He likes to get on the ball and never gives it away.

"He's got experience in this league and already knows a few of the players, so he's ready to get stuck right in, which is what we need."
