Latest Motherwell signing Theo Robinson says the old pals act helped attract him to Scottish football.
The Jamaica striker, 26, was recently released by Doncaster Rovers and is looking for a fresh start at Fir Park., external
"I've got a couple of friends up here, the likes of Lionel Ainsworth and Stephen Pearson," said Robinson after making his debut against Kilmarnock.
"It's a good tempo game in Scotland, they said I would enjoy it. So it was an easy decision to make."
Robinson came on as a second-half substitute for Motherwell goalscorer Louis Moult in the 1-0 victory at Fir Park.
The striker, who has signed a one-year contract, was delighted with the victory in a game in which Well and Killie toiled for form.
"It was a bit open towards the end," Robinson told BBC Scotland.
"Probably should've scored more goals, but we got the most important thing - the three points."
Robinson began his career with Watford and had loan spells with Wealdstone, Hereford United and Southend United before moving to Huddersfield Town.
He had further moves to Millwall, Derby County and Huddersfield Town before joining Doncaster in 2013.
However, having fallen out of favour, he ended last season on loan to League One rivals Scunthorpe United, scoring three goals in eight appearances.
So what should we expect from the Birmingham-born forward, who has five caps for his country?
"I think I can use my pace to run in behind the defenders," he added. "You could see today I was chasing things down.
"There's more to come from me. With the international break coming up, its time to get some work in and go from there."
