Bayern Munich got their Champions League campaign under way with a comfortable 3-0 win over Olympiakos.

Forward Thomas Muller scored twice for the Germans - one a cross which looped into the net and the other a penalty.

Mario Gotze got Bayern's second, twisting on the edge of the area before firing in from a tight angle.

Fellow Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen also got off to an impressive start with a resounding 4-1 win over Belarusian side BATE Borisov.

Former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez was on target for the German side, with Turkey international Hakan Calhanoglu scoring twice.

Vitali Buyalsky grabbed a last-minute equaliser for Dynamo Kiev against 2004 champions Porto. Former Tottenham striker Sergei Rebrov took charge of the Ukrainians for the first time in the competition.

Striker Hulk scored twice for Russian side Zenit St Petersburg in their impressive 3-2 victory at Valencia, with Champions League debutants Gent and French side Lyon drawing 1-1.
