John Still led Luton to promotion back to the Football League in 2014.

Luton Town manager John Still says he fully understands the level of expectation placed on his side.

The Hatters are 10th in League Two, after a four-match winning run ended with a 1-1 draw against York City.

"The man who wins a marathon isn't always up at the front early on," Still told BBC Three Counties Radio.

Meanwhile, the Bedfordshire club have also confirmed the arrival of 20-year-old full-back Sean Long from Reading on a one-month youth loan.

Long, who is a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, is available for the trip to Crawley this weekend.

Luton were among the pre-season favourites for promotion, but failed to win any of their opening five matches.

They are currently in their second season back in the Football League after five years in non-league, and ended last year one place outside the play-offs.

Still, who took charge of the club in 2013, still believes his side can compete for the title despite their current position.

"I have an expectation of myself and the team. If we fall below that, I don't need anyone to tell me how disappointing it can be.

"With the support the club has, there are more people to disappoint," he said.

"I never get affected by one game and I never get affected by things that are unusual."
