Mansfield Town manager Adam Murray has praised Blair Adams for the immediate impact he has made since arriving on loan from Notts County.

Full-back Adams, 24, was signed after Mal Benning suffered a knee injury, and he impressed on his debut at Yeovil.

"He was absolutely different class. It was one of the best debuts I've seen," Murray told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"We needed him to come in and collect Mal's mantle. I've got no doubt Blair will be a top player for this club."

Benning, 21, faces a long spell on the sidelines after sustaining cruciate ligament damage during the recent defeat by Bristol Rovers.

"We've reassured Mal that he's going to be at the club for a long time," said Murray, whose side are fourth in the League Two table following an excellent start to the season.

"We want Mal involved with what we're doing, because he's been fantastic not just as a player but also as a person."
