Continental Cup final: Arsenal Ladies 3-0 Notts County Ladies
- Published
Arsenal Ladies won their fourth Continental Cup in five years as Jordan Nobbs' two goals helped see off Notts County at Rotherham's New York Stadium.
England and Notts defender Laura Bassett was sent off before the break.
Nobbs scored either side of Bassett's dismissal, before American winger Chioma Ubogagu sealed a 3-0 win.
Victory extends Arsenal's 11-year run without a trophyless season, while Notts, who lost the FA Cup final in August, remain without a major trophy.
The Gunners, appearing in the Continental Cup final for the fifth year in a row, took the lead when Nobbs raced clear down the right flank and beat England keeper Carly Telford at her near post.
Bassett, who scored a late own goal as the Lionesses lost their World Cup semi-final to Japan, was then shown a straight red card for a tackle from behind on Arsenal's Vicky Losada.
England midfielder Nobbs beat Telford again with a dipping, long-range strike to extend Arsenal's lead, before substitute Ubogagu's close-range finish in second-half stoppage time.
Notts had squandered several chances to score in the first half, but Bassett was denied by a good Sari van Veenendaal save, Jess Clarke poked wide from Ellen White's dangerous cross, and Rachel Williams was unlucky to head on to the underside of the crossbar.
The result saw the Gunners win their first trophy under Spanish boss Pedro Martinez Losa, who was appointed in August 2014.
