Wigan have signed striker Alex Revell on loan from Cardiff until 23 January, subject to international clearance.

The 32-year-old has made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Bluebirds so far this season, scoring just once.

"I spoke to Alex in the summer and we tried to get a deal done but couldn't get it over the line," Latics manager Gary Caldwell told the club website., external

"He became available again on Sunday evening and we've worked very hard to get a deal over the line."

With Will Grigg away on international duty with Northern Ireland at the weekend, Revell is set to go into the squad for Wigan's League One match at Rochdale on Saturday.

Caldwell added: "Alex is a quality addition to our squad.

"He brings us a lot of energy, he puts himself about because he's big, strong and physical, and he's been scoring goals throughout his career.

"He's been playing at a higher level with Cardiff in the Championship and he comes in fit and ready to play for us, so he adds great competition to an already talented group of strikers."
