Kyle Lafferty: Leeds United enquire about Norwich City striker

Kyle Lafferty scored seven goals for Northern Ireland as they qualified for Euro 2016

Leeds United have enquired about taking Norwich City striker Kyle Lafferty on loan, boss Steve Evans has revealed.

The 28-year-old has only played once for the Premier League club this season, but has been instrumental in helping Northern Ireland qualify for Euro 2016 in France.

"He's done terrifically well for Northern Ireland and I have placed a call in to (Norwich boss) Alex Neil to see what the situation is," Evans said.

"Kyle needs to be playing."

Lafferty scored seven goals to help Northern Ireland reach their first major tournament since the 1986 World Cup.

However, he has struggled to make an impact since moving to the Canaries in the summer of 2014 and ended last season on loan at Turkish side Rizespor.

Meanwhile, Evans believes a loan move for Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt could still go ahead.

The 26-year-old has not played for the Black Cats this season and has been linked with a temporary move to the Championship.

"I know Massimo Cellino was talking to Liam's representatives on Wednesday," Evans told BBC Radio Leeds.

"We'll see where it goes in the next couple of days. We'd hoped it would have been done by now, but it's proving a little bit more difficult to get over the line.

"I've always said this is a great club to join and I think you'd be bonkers to not want to come here."
