Jorge Teixeira joins Charlton Athletic from Standard Liege

Championship strugglers Charlton Athletic have signed Portuguese centre-back Jorge Teixeira from Belgian club Standard Liege for an undisclosed fee.

The 29-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract at The Valley and is the Addicks' first signing since Jose Riga's return as head coach.

Teixeira was at Sporting Lisbon as a youngster and later played in Cyprus.

He has also had spells in Switzerland and Israel with FC Zurich and Maccabi Haifa respectively.
