Aidan O'Brien's Ruler of the World showed his form for the Derby with a convincing win in the Chester Vase.

Ryan Moore rode the 10-11 favourite to victory by six lengths from Mister Impatience, with Havana Beat third and Feel Like Dancing fourth.

Ruler of the World was immediately moved to 6-1 by one bookmaker for the Derby at Epsom on 1 June.

The race worked out well for him," said Moore. "He'll learn a lot. Going round here will have done him good."

Moore added: "He's still a bit green running round here, but once I grabbed hold of him he lengthened really well."

Mister Impatience set the early pace but Ruler of the World kept in touch before taking over from the home turn.

Paul Smith, son of part-owner Derrick Smith, said: "Aidan thinks quite a lot of him, he's been working well at home and we're really delighted with that.

"I think with the tight, turning track and the crowd, it was a good choice (of race) and it paid dividends.

"You'd have to be very happy with him. He stayed the trip."
