Kilimanjaro triumphed in the Lingfield Derby Trial ahead of Magic Dancer and Christophermarlowe.

Christophermarlowe, the Josh Gosden-trained colt ridden by Frankie Dettori, suffered a first loss in four in Saturday's race having won the Derby Trial at Epsom last month., external

The Aidan O'Brien-trained winner Kilimanjaro was ridden by Ryan Moore.

Christophermarlowe, at 2-5, was expected to win this race before the Investec Derby at Epsom on 6 June.

Analysis - Cornelius Lysaght, BBC racing correspondent:

"Understandably, Aidan O'Brien doesn't make final decisions about his Derby runners this early, but a gritty win here by Kilimanjaro surely puts him in the mix - though it's worth bearing in mind O'Brien also has five or six in front of him in his Derby pecking order.

"The son of dual Derby winner High Chaparral looked a real pro, coming from the back a quarter mile from the finish and keeping on nicely. Trainer John Gosden said Christophermarlowe (third) found the going too testing."
