Castleford Tigers look at stadium redevelopment

Castleford chief executive Steve Ferres says the Tigers are looking at making improvements to their current ground.

The side are due to move away from their Probiz Coliseum home and into a new stadium in Glasshoughton.

However, the supermarket firm who were set to buy the ground has put the move on hold.

"This club hasn't had a plan B for years and now we need to look at options to redevelop our ground," he told BBC Radio Leeds.

"The move isn't dead in the water; it could happen tomorrow or it could happen in two years time.

"We know the ground needs to be fit for purpose and we're looking into what we can do for that.

"There's been indications that there is money available from the council to move stadium or develop our existing one so we hope that remains the case."

On the pitch, the Tigers endured a miserable 2012 season.

Ian Millward's side finished level on points with bottom side Widnes after winning just six league games all season and ending the campaign with seven successive losses.

Ferres has warned that the club expect better performances in 2013.

"The fans aren't fools and they demand a team that will give 100%," he continued.

"Ian is an experienced coach, he's been around and he knows what he has to do.

"At the end of the day, we need results. We had a poor season this year and a particularly bad end, so it is imperative we get a strong start next year."
