London Broncos hopeful of securing future after 'positive' talks

London Broncos are set to avoid administration this week and are hopeful they will survive.

Broncos announced their intention to appoint administrators on 20 November, leaving them with a deadline of 17:00 GMT on Tuesday to secure their future.

They have now applied for that deadline to be extended by 10 working days.

And in a statement, the club said negotiations to find a permanent home and fulfil next season's fixtures "are at a positive stage".

The statement added: "The club will be instructing its lawyers to file a further notice of intention to appoint administrators at court, which shall be effective for 10 business days.

"During this time the club are hopeful that a deal can be concluded in order to ensure the club's future."

Broncos have been without a home since leaving The Stoop which they shared with rugby union side Harlequins, at the end of last season.

They have not yet secured a venue for their home games next year and have also seen a raft of players and backroom staff leave since the end of the 2013 season.

Among those departing were captain Tony Clubb, experienced utility back Luke Dorn and head of youth performance Phil Jones.

The club previously held talks with Barnet FC chairman Tony Kleanthous over a groundshare at The Hive.
