Myler joined Warrington ahead of the 2010 season

Warrington put in a clinical display, scoring 14 tries, as they thrashed Super League strugglers Wakefield.

The Wolves led 30-0 at half-time and continued their utter dominance in the second period to end a run of four straight defeats.

Richie Myler scored a hat-trick while Gene Ormsby, Toby King and Ben Currie bagged two each and Stefan Ratchford kicked 12 goals.

Bottom club Wakefield have now lost their last eight games.

Warrington went into the game on their worst run of form since 2009 but were rarely troubled by Wakefield as they recorded their first victory since mid-March.

The Wildcats were repeatedly punished for an error-strewn display at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Ormsby opened the scoring, stepping inside Wakefield full-back Jarrod Sammut to cross and Toby King then went over from close range.

They had some luck with their third try, as Myler's grubber kick rebounded off the post and into the hands of Daryl Clark while the fourth was a breakaway effort from Myler.

Ashton Sims made it five tries before the break when his brute strength carried him over the line and Ratchford put in a near-flawless kicking display - only missing a penalty from halfway just before half-time - to put Warrington in a commanding position at the break.

Matt Ryan knocked-on when well placed to get Wakefield on the scoreboard early in the second half and the game followed the pattern of the first period; with a relentless Warrington side scoring with ease.

Ormsby's second came from another interception and, after Sammut's restart went out on the full, Ratchford scampered through for their seventh try.

Ben Westwood pounced on an error for try number eight and Joel Monaghan took the Wolves to their half century with a try in the corner.

King, Myler and Ben Currie then crossed for three tries in the space of six minutes and Myler completed his hat-trick when he was released by Monaghan for Warrington's 13th try.

Currie then completed the scoring and Ratchford added his 12th conversion to cap a one-sided contest.

Warrington coach Tony Smith:

"We are not going to get carried away.

"All we can do is do our job and I thought we did it very well with some changes and some people who came in and did a really strong job.

"I though Declan [Patton] was fantastic on his first game - he directed us round like a player who has been there for a long time.

"I feel for our opponents, it's been tough old weekend for them and that's what you get after Easter sometimes.

"They've been battered to pillar to post and are down to the bare bones and it's tough to keep picking yourself off the ground unless you've got a strong outfit."

Wakefield coach James Webster:

"We were totally outclassed. Full credit to Warrington - they were outstanding.

"Over six weeks now we haven't had a seven-day turnaround and we find it hard to find some energy.

"I hate looking for excuses but over the last month I think we have spent around two hours as a team training together, for the simple reason I don't have enough people. We have just got to suck it up at the moment.

"Maybe we wait until round 24 and try and get our team nice and fit to make a crack at those last seven games - as we will most likely be in the lower one."
