Launceston captain Tom Rawlings proud of derby display

Launceston were leading for much of the game at the Rec

Launceston captain Tom Rawlings said he was proud of the way his side performed in the derby defeat to Cornish rivals Redruth in National Two South.

Ben Hilton's try and Kieron Lewitt's penalty helped Launceston lead 8-5 at the break as Craig Bonds got a try for the home side.

Brett Rule's penalty made it 8-8 before Tom Duncan's try put Redruth back in front before Ben Turner's late try.

"It just showed that we've got some fight in us," Rawlings said.

"It could have gone either way at the end when we scored a late try," he added to BBC Radio Cornwall

Launceston are four points off the bottom of National Two South, and have lost all their three games so far this season.

But despite not having a win Rawlings says he is pleased with the team's application.

"We've got a lot of young boys coming through and overall I'm really proud of their efforts as we've gone out and played well," he said.
