Jersey display not good enough, says captain Alex Rae

Jersey captain Alex Rae admitted his team's performance in the 29-3 thrashing by London Scottish "wasn't good enough".

The defeat was Jersey's worst of the season and leaves them second from bottom in the Championship table.

"It just wasn't good enough, if we're brutally honest," the former Wasps lock told BBC Radio Jersey.

"As a group we've got to hold our hands up. We've been prepared well and I think we've let everyone down a bit."

Jersey took an early lead in Richmond through Niall O'Connor's penalty but that was to prove their only score of a demoralising afternoon as they suffered their fourth straight defeat.

"It's a collective effort and we've all let ourselves down a little bit," added Rae.

"We went away from our game plan a bit and once we got away from it we made them look a lot better and we looked pretty ordinary at times.

"The damage had already been done by late in the game and we were chasing the game. We're just massively disappointed and all we can do is work hard.

"We've got a home game against Cornish Pirates this weekend and we've got to win that game really.

"It's a good, honest bunch of lads here and the most important thing is to stick together, not to whinge and moan or split into cliques. It won't get us anywhere, we have to work hard and fight for that victory next week."
