Evans had a 100% record with the boot against London Welsh kicking all eight of his shots at goal

Harlequins romped to an easy win over Premiership new boys London Welsh.

Tries from Mike Brown and Danny Care and seven points from the boot of Nick Evans saw Quins lead 17-0 at the break.

Quins increased their lead through Marland Yarde and Matt Hopper before forcing a penalty try.

Karl Dickson finished off a long-range attack before Yarde touched down his second try and Evans completed the scoring to maintain his perfect record with an eighth successful kick at goal.

While Harlequins returned to winning ways, London Welsh continue to struggle on their return to the Premiership.

The writing was on the wall for the visitors in the third minute, as Quins slipped into gear, with Care and Evans linking to send Brown over for a simple score.

Care was to profit next when winger Aseli Tikoirotuma sped away after Chris Robshaw's initial burst. Evans converted both tries and added a penalty as Quins cruised into the break.

The set-piece dominance began to tell and the second half became a procession, with Yarde touching down seconds after the interval following a run by full-back Brown.

Evans continued his 100% kicking record with his fourth successful shot at goal and the fly-half was again on hand to add the extras to convert Hopper's bonus-point try.

Former Harlequin Seb Stegmann was yellow-carded for his high tackle on replacement scrum-half Dickson as the hosts were awarded a penalty try, but Dickson was not to be denied when he followed up Brown's chip ahead to score their sixth of the afternoon.

England hopeful Yarde completed the rout with his second of the game, with Evans landing his eighth kick of the afternoon.

Although it is still very early in the season, the visit of fellow strugglers Newcastle to London Welsh next weekend could already be considered as a must-win game for both sides.

Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea:

"If people thought we were going to go away they will have to think again, to write us off after only four games was insulting.

"We can improve but this is a brutal league; we started last season with only two wins from five matches but this season we have three from five.

"We haven't started the season as well as we would have liked but Welford Road is an unbelievable place to go.

"You have to work incredibly hard for the result and I have to ensure we get our game together, which is my main concern."

London Welsh head coach Justin Burnell:

"We struggled today, across the board and in most parts of the game.

"We were well beaten as we were up against a very good Quins side who placed us consistently under the cosh.

"We were never going to lose by just three points and we were hoping for seven points from one of those attacking line-outs.

"I am still confident we can survive but we will have to learn quickly as this league is the best club league in the world and is going up in levels each year."
