Pro12: Glasgow Warriors 19-16 Ospreys

Glasgow Warriors beat Ospreys at Scotstoun to go four points clear at the top of the Pro12.

Pat MacArthur's early converted try and Peter Horne's penalty gave the Warriors a 10-6 half-time advantage.

Tom Grabham crossed for Ospreys in the second half and the visitors briefly led through Sam Davies's kicks

Horne gave Glasgow the edge again by taking his tally with the boot to 14 and Davies's subsequent penalty from far out was wide.

Gregor Townsend's side claimed their 12th win from 15 in the competition, with fifth-place Ospreys now seven points off the leaders, and three behind second-place Ulster.

Niko Matawalu was almost through at the end of a period of sustained phases by Glasgow but a knock-on by the Fijian halted the hosts' progress.

But Matawalu had a hand in the opening try, off-loading for MacArthur to power over in the right corner. Horne added the conversion.

MacArthur put the first points on the board

Davies knocked Ospreys' first two penalties wide but put the visitors' first points on the board with the third kick.

Tempers flared on the touchline in the run-up to Davies' second successful penalty, with Ospreys' Tevita Cavubati having taken exception to some tackling.

Glasgow then lost Tyrone Holmes to injury, with the flanker stretchered off and replaced by Will Bordill, and Horne soon added a penalty to the Warriors' tally.

Horne dragged his first kick of the second period wide and Glasgow were unable to take advantage of MacArthur's charge-down of an Ospreys kick moments later.

Fly-half Horne then knocked over a simple penalty to open up a seven-point gap but that lead was quickly cancelled out by the Welsh province.

Tyler Ardron flipped to Martin Roberts from a line-out and Grabham received the scrum-half's slipped pass to burst through a gap and touch down, leaving Davies a conversion.

Davies put Ospreys ahead for the first time with his next penalty shortly before the hour mark.

The lead went back and forth in a tight second half

Glasgow toiled for a period but eventually forced their visitors to infringe and Horne further boosted his hopes of a Scotland call-up with the penalty.

But handling errors again undermined the Warriors attack as Matawalu was stopped just short of the line after a piercing run by DTH van der Merwe.

Ospreys were then forced into an error of their own and Glasgow were awarded a scrum underneath the posts.

And, after Ospreys collapsed the scrum, Horne knocked over.

Bordill was caught offside and Davies' attempt from around 44m curved wide, meaning Steve Tandy's side left only with a losing bonus point.
