Six Nations 2015: Jamie Roberts has 'no idea' over future

Wales centre Jamie Roberts admits his long-term future may not lie with his French employers Racing Metro.

Reports have linked the French Top 14 club's player with a return to Wales before the 2015 World Cup.

Asked by BBC Radio Cymru if his long-term future lay in France, 2013 British and Irish Lions star Roberts replied: "I have no idea."

Roberts, 28, helped Wales beat France 20-13 in Paris in the Six Nations on Saturday.

Afterwards the former Cardiff Blues back indicated he intends to settle his future by the time the 2015 Six Nations ends on 21 March when Wales face Italy in Rome.

"A lot has been written by the press this week," said Roberts.

"I'll probably say something in the next fortnight about that, but we shall see."

Roberts, who moved to Paris in 2013, said he did not feel he had a point to prove against France amid the possibility of leaving Racing 12 months before his contract with them expires.

He added: "I was just glad to play well in Paris against my Racing team-mates and guys I play against in the Top 14."

The player, who made his Wales debut on the wing in 2007, said their "desire" in attack and defence was the difference at Stade de France - the nation's fourth successive tournament win over the French.

He added: "Nobody wanted to miss that tackle at the end to concede the try.

"The boys put their bodies on the line and that's what international rugby is all about. It was a great team effort.

"Our set piece deserves huge praise. We have to give credit to the whole pack and the replacements.

"Winning in France is a very special thing and we forget that sometimes and to do it four times in a row makes everyone very proud.

"Winning in France is a very special day regardless of winning ugly.

"I remember two years ago we won ugly and again it wasn't the prettiest of games but we've managed to win out here."

Roberts and his team-mates side find out on Sunday if unbeaten Ireland will visit them on 14 March with a Grand Slam still in their sights after hosting undefeated England on Sunday, 1 March.

He says Wales have already improved on their opening defeat by England and the win over Scotland that followed

And no matter what the outcome between Ireland and England in Dublin, Roberts says Wales must improve again to beat Joe Schmidt's side.

"We need to go up another level again to beat Ireland," he said.
