Rugby World Cup 2015: BBC Wales secures live radio rights

BBC Radio will have full match commentary on the Rugby World Cup throughout the tournament

The BBC has secured live radio commentary rights for the 2015 Rugby World Cup, with BBC Wales broadcasting all Wales' matches in the tournament.

Rick O'Shea will present the Radio Wales coverage, with commentary from Gareth Charles and Martyn Williams.

Radio Cymru coverage will be presented by Cennydd Davies and Jonathan Davies.

"We look forward to being at the heart of the Rugby World Cup action this autumn," said BBC Cymru Wales head of sport Geoff Williams.

"We are delighted to be able to offer live coverage of the Rugby World Cup on Radio Wales, Radio Cymru and on our digital services.

"We know that our audiences will be following Wales every step of the way throughout the tournament and we will be aiming to be their first port of call throughout the whole of the Rugby World Cup.

"We will also be broadcasting special editions of Scrum V on BBC Two Wales with views and analysis from our experts."

The tournament, held in England and Wales, is the biggest sporting event to take place in the UK since the 2012 Olympics, and begins on 18 September and runs until 31 October.

Wales begin their campaign in Pool A against Uruguay on Sunday, 20 September at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Warren Gatland's men then travel to Twickenham to take on hosts England on Saturday, 26 September, before returning home to face Fiji on Thursday, 1 October.

Wales complete their group fixtures back at Twickenham when they play Australia on Saturday, 10 October.

The quarter-finals will be played on the weekend of 17-18 October, the semi-finals on 24-25 October and then the final at Twickenham on Saturday, 31 October.

New Zealand are bidding to defend the title they won on home soil in 2011.

BBC Radio 5 live, 5 live sports extra, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Ulster and BBC Local Radio will cover other matches in the tournament.

All live commentary will also be streamed on the BBC Sport website, BBC Sport app and BBC iPlayer Radio app.
