Massaro takes US Open title

England's number one Laura Massaro came from behind to beat Egyptian Nour El Tayeb and win her second US Open title.

The 31-year-old took time off from the sport in February with fatigue, but has claimed two world tour events in a month with her 3-2 win in Philadelphia.

A gritty encounter saw Massaro overturn a 2-1 deficit to triumph 11-6 9-11 6-11 11-8 11-7 in 67 minutes.

"Winning this title feels extra special to me because of the break," said the world number three.

"I have a deep inner belief that I can come back from any position and that is my biggest strength."

Massaro also won the Macau Open in September and beat the defending champion Nicol David on her way to the US Open final.

"I want to be known for so much more than my comebacks, but I just keep doing it," said Massaro.
