Geraint Thomas will return to track racing for Team Sky at the Revolution Track Series in November.

The 29-year-old Welshman last raced on the track in 2012, helping Great Britain win a gold medal in the team pursuit at the London Olympic Games.

Thomas returns to the same track on 14 November for round two of the series.

"It will be my first time back to the Velodrome since the Olympic Games so it's going to be a bit surreal but I'm really looking forward to it," he said.

"It's great that I can represent Team Sky on the track and try and help them in the Elite Championship."

Following round two at London, Thomas will then race in round three in Glasgow on 28 November.

Thomas earlier this month pulled out of the UCI World Road Race Championships in Virginia, saying he did not feel "physically" up to it.

"It's going to be a bit of a shock to the system to get back on the boards after my end-of-season break but I love a challenge," he added.

"I'll give it a good crack and try and get some points on the board for the team."
